GBC Guardian gives our cardholders the ability to receive text alerts to help identify potentially fraudulent transactions on their GBC debit cards. Getting that message each time your debit card is used provides assurance that transactions conducted with your card are legitimate – if they aren’t, the message gives you specific instructions to follow to block all future transactions. Cardholders receive text alerts to their cell phone for their enrolled KeyCard & HSA Debit Cards. Multiple devices (up to 10 per card) can be enrolled to receive the alerts.
Here’s how it works:
When a transaction triggers an alert, a text message is sent to the enrolled phone number describing the transaction.
The text receiver can either:
- Ignore the message and this indicates that it is a legitimate transaction, or
- If it’s an unauthorized transaction, call the phone number provided in the text message for assistance.
A “Do Not Disturb” time can be set up, during which messages will be held for later reporting. Additionally, if you use our mobile app you can, at will, suspend activity on your card and reactivate at a later time with the "preferences" option.

Trying to keep on top of debit card fraud is on-going and very challenging. In addition to and separate from GBC Guardian, we utilize our Fraud Center to contact our cardholders as quickly & effectively as possible when potential fraud occurs.
Text alerts are now 24/7. The customer response for text and email is simply a “Yes” or “No” to indicate the legitimacy of the transaction in question. The fraud system works most efficiently if you respond to the automated system. If no response is received your debit card will be blocked.

If you plan to travel and use your Debit Card please contact us with your current cell phone number and the location and duration of your travel. GBC’s Fraud Department monitors Debit Card transactions for suspicious or unusual activity. GBC will attempt to contact you, by text (24/7), email (24/7) or by cell phone (during normal business hours) if questionable transactions occur.
