GBC Art Gallery

Since 1975 Greenfield Banking Company has provided a gallery for Central Indiana Artists to display their work. The gallery was located in the bank’s main office in downtown Greenfield. Then in 1999 it was moved to the banks new main office and is currently located in the second floor lobby.

Many artists, young & old have displayed artwork over the years. Their creations include watercolor, oil and acrylic paintings, photographs, textile art, photo essays, pencil drawings and pastels to name a few. Press releases and photographs are distributed to local media to promote each artists show and a large sign at the bank’s main entrance directs visitors upstairs to the gallery.

The art gallery benefits not only the artists but also the community by making the visual arts more accessible to the local residents. The gallery is another way Greenfield Banking Company makes a positive contribution to the quality of life in our community.

Nancy Leslie's photography will be on display in Greenfield Banking Company’s Art Gallery during January and February, 2012.

Everyone's view of the world is different. Some see their surroundings very literally, some see them very artistically. Nancy Leslie chooses to see the world through an artistic eye. "My art comes from finding the beauty in the most ordinary or common objects."

Nancy's fascination with photography bloomed into an art form at the early age of 14. With her very first paycheck from detasseling corn, Nancy bought her first camera, a Kodak X-15F. "It was a small, instamatic camera with a flash bar at the top. I would buy rolls of film, go out and shoot the roll and then take it to the local drug store (on my bike) to have it developed. The thrill of seeing my photos has never diminished."

Today, Nancy shoots with Nikon D200 and D100 digital SLR cameras. Being digital has given her the ability to analyze a photos lighting instantly and make corrections and adjustments accordingly on the spot. Nothing is exempt from her camera's eye. Shooting a pretty flower is just as exciting as shooting a broken down building.

As a graphic designer, Nancy has gained master skills in Adobe Photoshop. Her skills have allowed her to take the most ordinary photo and turn it into a truly unique work of art. "Very few photos are perfect right out of the camera. I put my personal touch on every piece I choose to share with the world."

Not limited to photography, Nancy's work was on display at CrazyLake Art Gallery from the day they opened until the day they closed. She won People's Choice honors in Chalkfest 2010 and several honors in the Annual Riley Festival Photography contest including 1st and 2nd place in the Professional Division in 2011. She has had her work displayed at the Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce, the City County Building and The Bread Ladies in Greenfield and in American Wildwood Gallery in Rushville. Her work is also viewed globally in the HD stream at Radioparadise.com

Having previously served for ten years as Creative Director for the Indianapolis Air Show, Nancy now sits on the Board of the Hancock County Arts and Cultural Council and is a member of CrazyLake Plein Air Painters.

In addition to her work, photography and volunteer efforts, Nancy loves spending time with her husband Mark, also a fine-art photographer, her two cats and her beloved horse. Nancy and Mark have been Greenfield residents since 2005.

The public is invited to visit the Greenfield Banking Company Art Gallery in January and February to view the artwork of Nancy Leslie. The Art Gallery is located on the second floor of the Main Office, 1920 North State Street, Greenfield, Indiana.
