Greenfield Banking Company is the first bank formed
in Greenfield, opening Sept 4, 1871. The bank has remained open
and operated normally through 2 financial times of crisis in 1873
and during the stock market crash of 1929. Branch offices were opened
at Northgate Plaza in 1964; Fortville (through merger with First
National Bank of Fortville) in 1965; Cumberland in 1974 and Meridian
Road Office in 1976. In 1999 our new headquarters opened on the
north side of Greenfield. In 2008 the McCordsville and New Palestine offices were opened, expanding our market into the Northwest and Southwest corners of Hancock County.
Greenfield Banking Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Greenfield
Bancshares, Inc., a single bank holding company, and is the only
independent bank in Hancock County.
