History

 

Greenfield Banking Company is the first bank formed in Greenfield, opening Sept 4, 1871. The bank has remained open and operated normally through 2 financial times of crisis in 1873 and during the stock market crash of 1929. Branch offices were opened at Northgate Plaza in 1964; Fortville (through merger with First National Bank of Fortville) in 1965; Cumberland in 1974 and Meridian Road Office in 1976. In 1999 our new headquarters opened on the north side of Greenfield.

Greenfield Banking Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Greenfield Bancshares, Inc., a single bank holding company, and is the only independent bank in Hancock County.
